I added a “Bike” page to this site for those who are curious about biking dirt/gravel roads but don’t know what kind of bike to look for. As you’ll see, there are all kinds of ways to look at it depending on what kind of riding you do, what kind of budget you have, and other odds and ends that may help you sort things out.

The page actually links to a Pedalgood sister site, Dirt Road Washtenaw.

Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail – Empire Segment Open
“The 5.5-mile segment of trail between the Dune Climb and Empire officially opened on Friday, June 6, almost a month ahead of the construction timeline. The new segment doubles the trail length to 9.5 miles from Empire to Glen Arbor.”

My unofficial assessment, after spending the past few years riding many of the paths in Southeast, Western and Northwestern Michigan, is that they are getting a lot of use nearly all day every day during the riding season. Their popularity increases with every new path built or upgraded. People are often clambering over these even before they’re completed.
